General Chinese
Beginner
Chinese phonetics and tones, 300 words, 50 grammatical and sentence structures, 1000 common sentences and dialogues. Includes self introduction, day and time, daily schedule, likes and dislikes, grocery shopping, asking directions, taking a taxi, making a phone call, visiting a friend, making an appointment and ordering at a restaurant, etc.
Elementary 1¨C2 600 words, 100 grammatical and sentence structures, 2000 common sentences and dialogues including shopping for clothing and shoes, at a hair salon, hobbies, Chinese zodiac signs, weather, city sightseeing, excursions, plus moving, talking to a maid, making hotel reservations, booking tickets, giving gifts, money exchange, at a post office, seeing a doctor, transportation, joining a tour group and celebrating Chinese Spring Festival, etc.
Intermediate 1¨C2
After finishing the above levels, you'll be able to understand simple messages, instructions and directions. You can talk about everyday activities and use basic grammatical constructions. Intermediate levels focus on topics concerning the experience of overseas visitors to China, whether it be living in, working in or sightseeing within China. All the texts revolve around dialogues using conversational Chinese from everyday situations; the lessons are highly practical and designed to be interesting.
Advanced 1¨C2 When you enter the advanced level, you'll have a good comprehension of most non-specialist texts and a very good understanding of grammatical construction. After finishing the advanced levels, you will be a confident communicator, and easily able to understand practically everything heard or read. You can get information from various spoken and written sources and be able to weave together arguments and verbal accounts to form a coherent presentation. You'll be able to express yourself spontaneously, fluently and precisely and be sensitive to finer nuances of meaning even in more demanding situations.
Business Chinese
Designed for those students who have completed at least one year of Chinese study and have gained a good knowledge of basic grammar as well as at least a 1000 word productive vocabulary.
The emphasis is placed on the usage ofbusiness terms in modern Chinese and on language proficiency in a business context as well as onbusiness related social cultural awareness. Contents include arrival in China, at a hotel, company organization, formal meetings, schedule arrangements, formal writing, plans and reports, expressing a personal opinion, attending a banquet, negotiations, project progress, advertising, making and handling complaints, recruitment, training employees, visiting a factory, cultural similarities and differences, delivery and payment, package insurance, attending a trade fair, signing a contract, special economic zones, foreign investment, farewell dinner, etc.
HSK Test Preparation
Prepare students for taking the HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi). This is designed to teach students effective methods that will assist them in attaining a high score on the HSK. While the program content includes grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension and writing, the primary focus is on test-taking skills and strategies.
